We have a new coalition facilitator!

It is with much regret that I annouce my resignation as coordinator of Prevent Suicide Columbia County. After working with you all on this great initiative for about five years, I have accepted a full-time position with Sauk County Public Health. We've made wonderful progress in Columbia County and I'm so proud of our efforts to save lives.

Kristal Rykiel, Public Health Nurse with Columbia County Health and Human Services, will be moving into the leadership role of our coalition, and I will be available through the month of September to help ease the transition. Kristal, a Portage native, has been a nurse for nine years and has a variety of experience, including labor and delivery, home health care, and managed care. Her hobbies? "These days, anything that entertains my two sons, ages 4.5 years and 15 months," she told me. Welcome, Kristal!
We typically have been meeting on the third Thursday of every month, but our July meeting has been canceled. Our next meeting is on August 17 at 1pm in Portage at the Law Enforcement Center. We may be moving to an every-other-month meeting schedule: to be decided at the August meeting.

All are welcome! Unable to attend meetings? Not a problem! Contact us to talk about how we can help your family, agency, or organization address our county's high rates of suicide attempts and deaths

Thank you for your support!

Join our 5th annual Walk for Hope!

Saturday, September 23rd at 10 am

at the Portage High School Track

  • Register ahead of time: it helps us to prepare. Same day registration is also available. Your $10 registration fee includes a free t-shirt!
  • We invite you to walk in a team, such as your family, civic group, sports team, church, employer, or club. Individuals and teams are encouraged to help us raise funds prior to the Walk. We will announce the team and individual that raise the most money on the day of the Walk.
  • If you would like to volunteer at the Walk, please contact us or check the box on the registration form. Thank you!
  • Help us advertise the walk: display our Walk for Hope flyer at locations in your community and share it online: email, social media, websites, and calendars!
  • We are actively seeking partners that can serve as Walk for Hope sponsors. As a sponsor at the bronze level or above, your company or family name will be included on event-day signage and here on our website. For more information, download the Sponsorship Pledge Form.
  • THANK YOU for your help!

Help distribute our two posters, shown above!
We would be happy to deliver copies of our newly printed posters (11 X 15 inches) for you to display in your workplace, school, organization, or other location. Think breakrooms, bathrooms, waiting rooms, events, and other public or private spaces. Just let me know how many of each of the posters you would like and where to drop them off. Thank you for helping us spread our main messages: You can Prevent Suicide and Your World Needs You.

Thank you for your support!
